About the Winery:
Blackbird Vineyards is the champion of Bordeaux-style wines in Napa Valley. Aaron Pott, a living legend among American winemakers, immersed himself in French technique at Troplong-Mondot and La Tour Figeac in St-Emilion. Now he crafts uniquely balanced, deep and refined French-style red blends from some of the finest vineyards in Napa Valley.
About the Wine:
The Contrarian is his interpretation of Left Bank Bordeaux. The Cabernet Sauvignon dominated blend expresses succulent black fruit, pepper and mocha. On the palate, silky layers of intricately structured, fine-grained tannins lead to a supple, approachable and harmoniously-precise finish. This wine is gratifying now and will age gloriously with time in the cellar. The cooler-than-normal 2011 Napa Valley grape-growing season resulted in truly elegant wines with European-style texture and great complexity. The magnum bottles are beautifully engraved with 3D glass labels and make an impactful centerpiece or gift.
